Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student and I covered concepts about derivatives. We then worked through some practice problems and he felt very confident. After we reviewed past material, he took his online midterm and scored an 86, which is excellent, considering the amount of material we have covered in such a short amount of time!"
"During this session, the student and I covered integration through the limit summation method as well as integration by parts and u-substitution. I found that he struggled the most with conceptualizing integration by parts and u-substitution, but after I explained the concepts to him and showed him useful graphics, he grasped the concepts much easier. Also, I suggested that he practice these types of problems as much as possible because they are crucial to integrate complex functions. I am confident that he will excel at these problems as long as he practices them enough and builds the technique. On Thursday, we will meet to finalize these topics and go over last minute questions he has before his exam on Friday."
"During this session, we mostly went over the final exam study guide that the student received in class the day before. Specifically, we did a lot of problems pertaining to finding the equation of tangent lines using the derivative. We also spent most of the session going over material she has not been tested on, specifically solving integrals using u-substitution."
"Excellent work today! The student seemed much more confident about today's material from the start. We reviewed the chain rule once again in more detail, and he completed practice problems over this with a much higher success rate than in the past. He also did some practice with integration by parts, which he also seemed to understand well. The session was capped off with reviewing the concept of related rates. Overall I would consider this to be the student's strongest day since I started working with him, a significant improvement from the previous two sessions! Keep it up!"
"First the student and I covered the homework, on which he did well. Then we worked a bit more on limits and derivatives before moving to tests 1 and 2, administered in college algebra a year ago to review material we'd covered. He fared well on many problems. I am assigning mixed problems for problem recognition strategies tonight."
"For homework, we covered transformations applied to integrals (also known as u-substitution). The primary focus of the session was preparation for the upcoming test, which was regarding integrals, and was essentially a review of everything we went over throughout the year."
