Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed comparison of equality again and practiced verb conjugations, specifically preterit vs. imperfect. The student seems to struggle the most with vosotros, which is challenging. He has a great attitude about practicing his Spanish in all of our sessions. He's making good progress."
"We reviewed preterit vs imperfect, looked at present and pluperfect tense, and introduced subjunctive mood. We also talked about making flashcards for new vocabulary, as well as irregular verbs in the preterite and imperfect."
"We reviewed the past tense in this session and we started to cover the imperfect tense. To review, we came to an agreement to augment tutoring hours until his next test, so that he can catch up and get an A. The main effort now is to help him remember the past tense conjugation for the verbs he's required to know in class. We're going to drill those verbs during our next tutoring sessions. And, we're also going to make sure he knows how to conjugate those for the imperfect tense and present tense, since this seems to be an important requirement in his tests. We're also going to practice the new vocabulary, and do exercises that require him knowing not only the different endings to the verb tenses in his list, but also, how to use them in a sentence."
"We reviewed the student's homework for her regular class. Topics reviewed include: the subjunctive, including when to use it for doubts, uncertainties, phrases that require the subjunctive, and ambiguous situations; direct and indirect object pronouns; the difference between preterito and infinitivo; the conditional, when used with or without the subjunctive; Hace + time construction; estar vs. ser; cuyos vs. cual vs que. Wins: she has a good grasp of grammar rules with some review to recall things she's already learned."
"We reviewed the student's vocabulary and preterite and imperfect that she had been doing in class. She'll have a test early next week. She did very well, and knows the vocabulary much better now. We did many past tense exercises, and she has a firm grasp of the forms and uses."
"We reviewed verbs like gustar, reflexive verbs, indirect object pronouns, and reviewed some past quiz concepts. We created a Google Doc where we practiced the concepts, which can be used as a study guide. I felt she understood the material well and is well prepared for her quiz on Tuesday. Next weekend, we will begin preparing for her next test."
