Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We decided to focus on improving the reading skills both from a pronunciation standpoint and also for deeper comprehension. We used a long text from the student's class, we read it twice, we analyzed it, and we based our conversation on it. We decided that in the next week, she will be reading some children's books aloud, and using specific techniques for understanding."
"We did a dictation exercise to practice speaking and listening. We also reviewed definite articles, reflexive verbs and preterite vs. imperfect tense. Next time, we will work on doing more of the lesson in Spanish and more work in the past tense."
"We did grammar practice and cultural and poetic reading. Addressed new vocabulary, answered questions for grammar and reading comprehension. Further practice with grammar concepts is suggested. Good progress made during session and scores on all assessments were excellent."
"We divided the session in two and we continue doing homework. The student is really good, every time he has new questions and is improving in the way he understands the sentences and exercises. I am glad he has doubts and learns from his mistakes. He did some test during the week so he couldn't approach his teacher to know what is wrong in his homework so we can focus on that. Today we continue practicing the subjunctive, and he learned some new phrases. He is a great student!"
"We got a basic idea of where the student is struggling. He needs more input with something that interests him. I suggested reading baseball news the day after games ended. I showed him how to use a bilingual dictionary that features a verb conjugator. We used that dictionary to go over an irregular verb worksheet he had made some errors on in class. I discussed with him the benefit of knowing English grammar and sentence structures to help him understand the differences between English and Spanish."
"We practiced the preterit for her test tomorrow. She was struggling with using the right form of conjugation, but got better as we practiced and studied the irregular conjugations. Her attitude was very good. I did give her a strategy to target any type of problem. I did leave her with an organized course notebook listing school work, grammar notes, and vocab/verb lists. I also advised her in what to study every day and how to study it. "
