Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed double displacement reactions and completed her lab on precipitates. She balanced equations well and feels very comfortable with stoichiometry."
"We reviewed again for the student's midterm, going over the periodic table and trends, as well as molecule geometry and electron configuration. We also briefly discussed density and conversion factors."
"We went over material for his upcoming quiz. I showed him the basics of naming organic compounds and gave him some notes and procedures to help him study for his test."
"Today, we continued with coverage of chapter 16. She is doing much better when it comes to approaching and solving problems. I would still like for her to be able to study by herself to make our sessions more productive."
"Today, we reviewed for the student's chemistry quiz. I helped her study chemical element symbols, and most of our review was about quantum numbers, quantum theory and an overview of important atomic theory scientists and their discoveries."
"Today, we reviewed the concepts from last week, including density problems, converting moles to number of atoms, and converting a mass to a number of moles for a given substance. We also covered new material understanding the periodic table. He was able to complete the periodic table exercise mostly on his own, but upon reviewing his last exam, he continues to struggle with numerical problems. The biggest hurdle seems to be understanding how to manipulate the units to solve for a new value (e.g., multiplying g/mole by x moles to get a mass). I left him with some review problems in the same style as his exam questions so that he can practice the process I went through with him."
