Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a good session where we covered electron config as well as quantum theory of the atom. She seems like a very smart student who catches on very quickly!"
"We covered atoms and sub-atomic particles; and ions. We also introduced molecules as well as the formation of ionic compounds. The student seems to absorb the material well."
"Tonight we covered topics related to DNA such as mutations, translation, transcription, and types of RNA. The student was inquisitive and suggested that we cover this material to get a head start on the material that her teacher had not yet covered, but will eventually be on the exam in February. We also worked on her challenge essay, including pinning down specifics for her to include on bio-terrorism. She is a very engaging student who asks questions when she does not understand something and finds images and graphs particularly helpful in understanding various topics, especially ones that are similar."
"Today, I met with the student at the library to help her review for her cumulative final exam at the end of the week. We went over several of her past quizzes, rewrote each question and answer, and discussed the concepts. We also wrote out notes and drew diagrams to illustrate the mechanisms in cellular respiration (glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and electron transport chain). Next, I verbally quizzed her on what we went over and had her redraw and teach the concepts to me."
"Tonight, we covered a review of the homework I gave the student on intro to Biology topics, and then we moved into some multiple choice questions. She is doing a great job of answering questions at a higher level, along with working through some more difficult multiple choice questions as well. We spent a good amount of time using questions as review and then moved briefly into building upon characteristics of multicellular organisms. She did a great job, as always, and I will be sending her over additional work to work through before our session tomorrow."
"We covered biology topics on Wednesday, going through notes and highlighting important points. It is a lot of material to go through, but the student seems to be picking up important points. Today, we went through physics problems, and she didn't seem to have any trouble reasoning through these."
