Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"My student and I went over basic conversational phrases in Spanish. We were able to practice basic conversation for at least half of our session. She is feeling more and more confident each time we meet."
"She and I played our Catch Phrase type game to practice her vocab for her upcoming quiz. The game also helps her practice speaking which is important for her studies because her teacher is very conversation based this year."
"The lesson was mostly review of months, days of the week, weather, clothing, and some basic conjugation via Q/A. Now that's he's slotted back into Spanish 1, he seems much more comfortable and in control of the materials, so we agreed to remove the regularly scheduled lessons and instead switch to an 'as needed' basis. "The session went very well. The student did three pages of homework consisting of writing sentences, multiple choice, and fill in the blank with her new vocabulary words - family related. It was a fun session, and she is doing very well."
"The student and I continued with her Spanish lessons in Descubre - Book 2, which is her assigned school textbook. We covered En el consultorio - pg 18, including the vocabulary and the exercises. We also covered Síntomas y condiciones medicas and La medecina on pg 19."
"The student and I had a great first session! We spent a bit of time at the beginning getting acquainted, and I found out a bit about where she is at with the material. Then, we went straight to work and prepared for a quiz she has tomorrow on the preterite tense. This led us into discussing irregular and stem-changing verbs, and she seemed to gain a lot of clarity from my explanation. We spent the final 45 minutes discussing direct and indirect objects, which she had told me she was confused about in class. Again, she seemed to begin grasping the concept better as we finished, but I'll want to revisit this next time we meet."
