Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued his chemistry final review. We covered chapter 6 on quantum chemistry and planned out the rest of his reviewing schedule."
"We reviewed Acid/Base concentrations, Equilibrium Constants, Molarity, Definitions of Acids/Bases, and Chemical, Ionic and Net Ionic Equations."
"We covered angular diameter, angular velocity, angular acceleration, and angular momentum. We also went over the student's previous test and reviewed conservation of mechanical energy and work."
"To prepare for the student's quiz on Wednesday and to get a jump start on studying for the final, he and I focused today on reviewing stoichiometry and electrochemistry. We began with a set of practice stoichiometry problems; these were fairly easy for him, and once he had the hang of them, I asked him to skim through and make sure he knew how to do the rest before we moved on to electrochemistry. We discussed how to distinguish between oxidation and reduction, anodes and cathodes, and galvanic cells and electrolytic cells; we then practiced calculating the value of E_cell and determining whether the reaction is spontaneous or nonspontaneous."
"Today I helped the student complete a lab report dealing with the synthesis of esters. We also reviewed the nomenclature rules for hydrocarbons, and we identified the functional groups for alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and esters. Finally, we practiced drawing Lewis structures for organic compounds, and this helped the student correct and complete a worksheet."
"Today I helped the student prepare for her biology test tomorrow. We worked on topics related to transcriptions, translation, and gene expression. We have covered these concepts a number of times already, so I can tell the repetition is helping her and should prepare her for her test."
