Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"They did very well today. We went over zeros and limits. They were both very quick learners and were very responsive to the questions by the end of the session. I will send problems for limits sometime tonight, if not, tomorrow for sure! Thanks, and keep up the great work!"
"Things are going really well, as a bunch of the student's material feels like review to him. It sounds like his math test has been smooth, and the science test next week should be a number of topics we've already gone over in detail. I'm looking forward to seeing the results!"
"This afternoon the student and I covered basic algebra topics including properties of addition and multiplication. I also taught her how to multiply powers with like bases and simplify expressions. She did quite well! We reviewed operations with integers and practiced mental math exercises. I challenged her with higher order thinking skills questions. She was able to reason through the problems correctly with minimal input or guidance from me. Overall, a positive session."
"This day we had worked on Concepts relating to graphing and direct variation. She's been making progress in math with respect to some of those base skills that she necessitates for algebra. She has been actually having a little bit of trouble in Spanish, so I will be working with her in Spanish in addition to math, as I am fully qualified to teach bilingual. :)"
"This day's lesson was a mix of applied mathematics and theory in linear algebra. The student is learning the subject to enhance his ability to work his job. Starting off with an example of principle component analysis, we were able to motivate some of the mathematics and get into something relevant to what he was doing. In the second half, we continued working through the linear algebra material for his theoretical understanding."
"This evening, the student and I worked a great number of calculus problems involving derivatives, including the chain rule, preparing her for a test next week. Tonight it seems like she is grasping concepts so much better than during the first session. She is beginning to remember to use the chain rule. I taught her strategies to select the best differentiation method."
