Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student's quiz is tomorrow, so I was focusing on having her try to solve the problems on her own. She felt confident on the fractions at the beginning of the session, and then she started to become less confident. The decimals were something she was having difficulty with, and she successfully answered an addition, multiplication, and division with decimal problem on her own at the end of the session."
"The student's teacher hasn't covered much new material this week (and the king monkey problem hasn't been discussed/presented in class). We spent most of our time reviewing 7th grade material. She was really on-the-ball, and was doing well with almost all of the material we worked on."
"The students and I worked on sentence structure, linear equations, and inequalities. The students were struggling with some of the underlying concepts. I provided them with strategies that I have utilized in the past. I left them with worksheets that we will review in depth next week."
"The students did excellently on the homework involving multiplying rational numbers. We completed worksheets that reviewed order of operations, multiplying and dividing rational numbers, which are the topics they needed to work on the most. The concepts we covered included decimal placement for multiplying and dividing decimals, PEMDAS for order of operations, and converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions when multiplying/dividing."
"The subjects we touched on were plotting points on a 3-axis/dimension graph, solving a system of 3 equations, and linear programming, in which maximum and minimum values are determined subject to certain stated constraints. The first and third subjects are not always covered in Algebra 2. She seemed able to comprehend this new material without difficulty."
"The topic of today was completing the square. I went over why this is important in algebra (i.e. vertex form) and went through an example with him."
