I love teaching kids of all ages, but am especially passionate about fostering a love of literature in students grades 6-8!

I am a sophomore at New York University majoring in Data Science and Biology. I am most passionate about learning through research and have been a part of multiple projects on stem cell research and machine learning. Teaching students of the many learning opportunities presented through real world applications has always been a focus of mine. I believe that students are able to obtain a more meaningful and gratifying education when they are able to apply their knowledge into their own lives, and I would like to share that appreciation with them.

Some of the most important people in my life have been teachers. They showed me my unique place in academia and how to succeed in institutions of higher education while also being myself. I continue these teaching methods to show each student that they can succeed and excel in school in their own unique way. My personal academic interests are Digital Signal Processing and Music, the journey to which has led me through a wide variety of disciplines.

I will be graduating from the University of Richmond in May of 2017. I am a double major in Leadership Stuides and English with a minor in Creative Writing. I've had a wide variety of writing and editing experiences. I've interned for a local publishing and editing house, and have assumed writing and leadership roles in every written publication on my campus. My goal is to help students improve their grammar and usage skills, written voice, and overall paper or essay cohesiveness and creativity. Improving writing skills is essential to being an excellent communicator at high school and college levels as well as for future employment.

I have always been a student with diligence; in high school and currently in university, I was never the smartest student in class, but I worked the hardest to be one.Teachers have always intrigued me in different ways and at different levels. As a youngster, I have thought that teachers are genius men and women that have been sent from the sky to bestow knowledge. As I have become more mature, I questioned why they would take a job with such low payment. But after I spent time carefully teaching other kids, I realized that it's not for everyone. But if it is for one, then it is a valuable and life-changing experience to give knowledge and make a "student." I have been blessed to learn this fact and would like to pursue this position as a tutor and perhaps a future teacher.In regards to tutoring, I have spent half of my high school years tutoring other kids. I was a tutor for the STEM subjects during the lunch time and I have spent some time as a professional tutor for students outside of school. Teaching was a valuable experience that taught me as much as I have taught my students; I have learned that people are given different talents and I as the tutor, can be there to help cultivate the strengths and the weaknesses.

I am a first year economics major at Washington University in St. Louis. For high school, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from an American school in China. I am a native English speaker, but I have been learning Mandarin for my entire life as well. I took 9 AP tests throughout high school in addition to the ACT. I got a 5 on Calculus BC, macroeconomics, psychology, seminar, and statistics, and a 4 on microeconomics, chemistry, computer science A, and environmental science. I am passionate about helping others, and believe that a strong fundamental knowledge of the subject is the most important factor to improving overall grades and future learning.

I am an undergraduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and I have tutored students since my early high school years. I've had experience instructing and guiding a variety of students, from young middle schoolers taking their first steps into the world of computer programming to my own peers struggling with their calculus exams. Over the past year alone, I've worked with over 30 students, spending several hours each day to help them stay up to speed on their schoolwork. I specialize in many areas of math as well as computer science, biology and physics. When tutoring students, I draw on my own experience with learning the material to identify and address the obstacles they face. I believe that promoting a deeper level of understanding of the subject, as opposed to merely teaching to the test or problem set, will enable students to excel in the long-term.

I am a senior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Political Science and minoring in Applied Mathematics and Entrepreneurship & Management. With thorough experience helping students of all levels, I have tutored a range from elementary schoolers to college-level writing majors. I can assist in a variety of tasks related to writing, including brainstorming ideas for a five-paragraph essay with third graders, editing personal statements for college applications, and reviewing university students' final papers. Overall, I like to show that the practice of writing is systematic and straightforward rather than daunting. Outside of the classroom, I play varsity tennis and participate in extracurricular activities such as Model United Nations Conference and Phi Mu Women's Fraternity. I would love to help you with any writing assistance you may need, and can offer a multitude of study skills and time management tips, as well.

I am a native German and I am an educator at heart.I studied Early Childhood Education in Germany and completed my internship England as a German Teaching Assistant. I prepared students ages 14-18 for their German entrance exam and served as chaperon at their weekly extracurricular activities.After I earned my teaching certificate from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in May 2011, I joined the staff at the German School St. Louis. I loved to enchant my 5-6 year old students and created a playful lesson plan with songs and games. As a native speaker, my knowledge of German is impeccable. I deliver a lesson with contagious enthusiasm. And maintain a structure, yet relaxed environment.Educating children is my passion and it is my pleasure to teach students all facet about the German language.My daughter shares my passion of hiking and swimming. We like to explore new nature trails around St. Louis and enjoy a good book. My culturally diverse circle of friends got me interested in cooking again in which I am currently experiencing with the Indian cuisine.

The most important thing I've learn in 23 years of teaching & coaching is to meet the student where they are and help them grow to where they want to be. My degree is from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma where my professors always focused on meeting each child's individual learning style. I believe fun can always be a part of learning no matter what the subject and that the student and teacher are in that journey together.When I'm not teaching I enjoy being outside, painting, or anything creative. I'm excited to meet you and your child and start this journey!
