Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed his strengths/ weaknesses and previous scores and experience with the test. We worked through several types of reading passages and discussed general strategies to use. He has the most trouble with tone/ author's intent questions. We also worked several vocabulary questions, which he did well on. We also worked several grammar practice questions and reviewed a link I sent him of the most commonly tested grammatical rules, discussing the correct and incorrect examples of the rules. We spent the rest of our time reviewing SAT essay structure and writing essay outlines/ introductions."
"This was our first meeting. The student wants to bring up her SAT score significantly. It was clear by the end of the session that her previous scores in no way reflected her skills and abilities. A pleasant and down to earth student. She has good thinking skills and learns quickly."
"Today we went over the vocabulary from the past two sessions. The student did great this week with her vocab words! Then we worked on math and verbal sections. We mostly focused on word problems and geometry problems today for math. We practiced writing out equations for math problems to simplify the questions. The student's main problem with the verbal section is still the limitations from her vocabulary. We identified a new set of vocabulary words to work on this week."
