Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the "gender" of nouns, noun-adjective agreement, and verb conjugation. The student didn't really struggle at all, outside of pronunciation. She is determined and motivated to become fluent. I taught her a spelling trick to aid pronunciation. No extra practice. I intend on giving homework to her at a later date. "
"We did a revision of homework. Listening comprehension of an interview to extract specific information. We did a revision of agreement of possessives and differences between Spanish and his native language (English), of certain nouns used for descriptions that are equal in feminine and masculine: deportista, artista, estudiante, and of "me gusta." I did an introduction to "me gusta + infinitive." I also did a presentation of "me gusta/le gusta" + infinitive and the concordance of gusta/gustan and me/le/les. "
"We did an introduction, and then we worked on demonstrative pronouns, possessive pronouns, and short and long forms. We also did practice with ser and estar. The homework was very good. He is doing exercises with Ar, Er and Ir verbs and the regular and present tense."
"We did lots of review with the student's homework. He admitted that he wasn't as prepared as he would like to be and said that he prefers when sessions are more focused on our own dialogues as opposed to completing his homework assignments. He has a good handle on some of the basics that we reviewed. He has an exam this week that he wants to focus on during our next session."
"We did several written exercises. Then, we studied more vocabulary, this time we viewed "La Casa" (The House), "Material Escolar" (School Supplies), and "Comida rapida" (Fast Food). At the end, we played hangman to practice the new vocabulary."
"We first did a grade check, where his only grade that went down was Geometry, and his lowest grade was in Biology at a 77. We spent the time together working on an online lab. It was about plant and animal cells. He had to identify the parts in each, match the parts to their features and functions, and then write about the differences between plants and animal cells in terms of which features they had in common and which they did not. He was very focused during the lab and asked great questions about the parts of both plant and animal cells. He completed the lab with a much better understanding of both types of cells. Excellent attention and motivation during the session."
