How can a Science tutor help you?

Science is one of the most exciting subjects for young students. For example, they love learning about insects like butterflies, the different species that live near them, and how a cow's three stomachs work. They can be quick at picking up cause and effect in different scientific experiments. And when science consists of just drawing different insects or animals, they have a great time. But science gets tougher as they get older, and have to learn things like the Latin names for all kinds of animals or have to begin looking at the periodic table of elements. If your child is having a tough time in their science class, a private tutor may be just the answer. For assistance for your child in understanding their science course in Tacoma, WA, contact Varsity Tutors.

We'll find you a private science tutor in Tacoma who is extremely flexible and can work with your schedule. Your child's tutor will be available at a time of day that is convenient for you, and in a location that is best. They can meet with your child in person in their school, a library, or even your home. Your child also has the option to meet their tutor face-to-face online through our live learning platform if that is desired for any reason. It's really all about your child's needs.

The student and I covered review problems for kinematics (equations of motion). We also reviewed forces (Newton's laws, study sheets covering types of forces, free-body diagrams, and general concepts). In an effort to communicate better with her teacher, the student has agreed to ask direct questions as they relate to concepts and/or illustrations that are not clear during lecture, and to clarify an unclear problem during an exam situation, if needed.

We spent the first part of the session on forces of friction on objects skidding across horizontal surfaces. Then we discussed the difference between weight and mass. In the last part of the session we did a more complicated sum of forces problem that will be important when she gets to blocks on inclined planes.

The student reviewed his physics and math test that covered trigonometric ratios, angle of elevation and depression, vector addition, and vector components, and algebra with exponents, the power of a power theorem, adding or subtracting exponents if the like bases are being multiplied or divided. He had a much better understanding of the material once he reviewed the problems he missed on the test and was better prepared for the retake. I left him with some exponents and vector addition problems to work on.
