Today was a very productive session with both students. We mainly worked on reading and understanding a French story about a family of squirrels and then answering some questions about it. Although they had a lot of fidgety energy because it was a Saturday, I could tell they were really thinking about the questions I was asking and trying to remember what words meant. We also made some more flashcards for their words of the week, and they did a very good job of learning and remembering those as well.

We covered possessive pronouns, adjective agreement, describing family members, conjugating "avoir" and "etre," indefinite articles, classroom vocab, and word order. The student completed practice in several formats: reading comprehension questions, true/ false, answering verbally, listening comprehension, fill-in-the-blank, and free response. The biggest win from this session for me was that he corrected many of his own errors when I encouraged him to go back and check for general things.

Yesterday, the student and I reviewed counting from one to ten. She also learned how to ask, "How old are you?" and respond with "I am ___ years old." We practiced doing dialogues with all the phrases we've learned so far, and we did a listening activity where she identified the ages of different characters in her workbook saying how old they are. She is good at reciting the numbers one through ten, but struggles a bit to identify individual numbers when they're taken out of the context of the series. We'll work on that in our next session.
