Syracuse German Tutoring FAQ

If you or your student needs more help to study German, consider contacting Varsity Tutors to connect with a Syracuse German tutor. While it can be a challenge to learn a new language, making regular practice a part of your routine can help you learn German faster and feel more confident in less time. Enrolling in Syracuse German tutoring can make it easier to incorporate language studying into your schedule, especially since it is offered both online and in-person. With so many options available, scheduling a meeting with a private German instructor is simple and convenient.

What are the benefits of studying with a Syracuse German tutor near me?

Varsity Tutors makes it easy to find a knowledgeable and accessible instructor in your neighborhood. When you study with a private German instructor, you are their only student during that session—making your progress the sole priority. Syracuse German tutoring is adaptable and customizable, and it can be adjusted based on your skill level, learning goals, and preferences.

For example, perhaps your student is struggling with noun inflections in their German class at school. Your student can work with a German instructor to spend extra time reviewing examples and determining the number, gender, and case of a word. An instructor can slow the pace and present the content in a variety of formats, providing students with close, individual attention that they may not receive in other classroom environments.

As the only student in a meeting, you do not need to worry about slowing down other students when you need a closer review of a concept. Likewise, private instruction eliminates distractions from your classmates. You can ask questions without embarrassment or apprehension, allowing you to curb the creation of bad habits in your language acquisition. Syracuse German tutors can support your German learning by prioritizing your learning goals and helping you learn more efficiently. Mentorship is yet another benefit of private German instruction.

As you learn from your instructor, you can feel confident that you are learning from a highly-qualified German mentor. Before instructors are allowed to begin teaching students, they are required to pass through a strict vetting process that examines their qualifications, fluency, and knowledge against high standards. You can rest assured that your student is learning from a trustworthy professional when you enroll in private German instruction.

When and where can Syracuse German tutors meet with students?

Online and in-person meetings are available. Depending on what works for your schedule, you can opt to meet with an instructor in either format—both are accessible and taught by knowledgeable mentors. Online tutoring is especially accessible since you can meet with your instructor from nearly any location. As long as you are connected to the internet, you can begin learning German on the Live Learning Platform.

The Live Learning Platform is a digital classroom that you can log into from any laptop or desktop computer. It contains numerous features that combine the convenience of online instruction with the familiar amenities of a traditional classroom. Your instructor can use video chat to teach a lecture, for example, allowing you to see and hear them even though you are working from different locations. Likewise, your instructor can use the virtual whiteboard—which acts as a digital equivalent of a physical whiteboard or chalkboard—to write German vocabulary terms and work on spelling exercises. Additional features on the Live Learning Platform include integrated practice problems, session recording, and a shared document editor.

If you prefer to meet in person, you can schedule a meeting with your instructor at a location in your community. For example, you can meet with a German teacher on campus at a school like Syracuse University or at a local library like the Liverpool Public Library. Simply choose a time and place that works for both of you, then meet with your instructor to study German.

For more supplemental German help, consider enrolling in an online class. Online classes are taught by a fluent German speaker who can present projects, lessons, and activities to teach you new German concepts. You can study with an instructor and your classmates since online classes connect you to other students who are learning German as well.

German Tutoring review by Allen in Syracuse, NY
We spent all our time with online tests today. The questions were all written multiple choice. We started with the first A2 level test. Then we went to the A1 level test. Finally we did the second A2 level test. As we did the questions, we discussed grammar and vocabulary as needed for clarification. I felt these tests were a good match for the student's learning objectives.

German Tutoring review by Roshan in Syracuse, NY
After returning from winter break, the student has shown no signs of slowing down but instead has shown greater confidence in her knowledge of vocabulary, grammar and pronouns. I am very happy with the progress she has made thus far.

German Tutoring review by Iab in Syracuse, NY
The student worked on telling time and describing the weather. She was given two student-friendly handouts. The activity with time was basically practicing reading time. I explained to her that people in France often use military time, so she practiced to read and say time in both regular and military time. She understood the time concept quickly. She used her handout and her numbers sheet as resource materials for the activity. For weather vocabulary, I asked her to check the weather channel on her phone and describe how the weather is today, tomorrow, and this weekend. She enjoyed the fun activities and learned fast. We concluded the session with reviewing basic questions about how to ask in French--What are you eating? What are you drinking? We also covered foods and drinks vocabulary.

German Tutoring review by William in Syracuse, NY
The student struggles with the flow of conversation, retrieving vocabulary, and verb tenses. We will focus on verb forms and conjugations in lessons ahead. Her positive attitude and strong motivation will be an asset. I provided her with links to a good website for analysis and practice of grammar and vocabulary, and also to a glossary of medical terms. She is a linear thinker and benefits from analysis of language and explanation of structure as well as usage and conversation. She seems satisfied with the session and we succeeded in establishing a good rapport and better sense of how to proceed.

German Tutoring review by Alyson in Syracuse, NY
We worked on a new lesson after reviewing our food vocabulary where the student told me what he ate for the day. It was practically a conversation all in French! Our new lesson is about a couple meeting for the first time and the various stages of their relationship as time goes on. It is great for vocabulary and putting to use all of the things we have learned so far, such as descriptive words, negation, compound verbs, and just full sentences in general. He will do some grammar reading and light exercises in the same lesson before I see him next.

German Tutoring review by Melissa in Syracuse, NY
Today we continued working on the student's listening skills by continuing last week's exercise. This week she had to write everything that she heard so she could practice not only her comprehension but also her vocabulary and grammar. She struggled a bit at first, however, after a few minutes she began to get the hang of it. She did very well by listening to the text first and then re-listening to write what she heard. After, we went over what she wrote compared to what they said, and she had a few mistakes like hearing sa instead of ca. She also was conjugating verbs that should be left in the indicative. We will continue on with this next week so she can continue to feel more comfortable translating what she hears.
