Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"At this session, the student and I reviewed the "cheat sheet" that we had been constructing since the last session. We then proceeded to go through the rest of the practice exam that she had taken. There were a few that she missed on the writing section, which we corrected very quickly. We spent the most time going through the math section. We spent a little bit more time than we did on the writing section on the reading section. These times directly correlate to the scores that she received on the sections. This leads me to believe that she will need the most preparation in math, some rigorous preparation and reading, and much less preparation on the writing section. She maintained a very positive and focused attitude during the session. I assigned her a practice exam (full-length) to take this weekend. We will see what the results are and move forward from there."
"Today we went over a number of concepts, such as how to simplify the sentence completions, process of elimination techniques, and ambiguity elimination based on the "charge" of a word (if it is positive or negative) and its context. The student struggled most with SAT vocabulary, something I must continue to suggest he practice on a daily basis to improve his overall SAT verbal score. Despite any difficulties he may have had with vocabulary, the student was as positive as always today and we had a decent session of review."
"This was our last session before the student's admissions test. He did 4 practice sections, and only missed a total of 7 questions. We also put together a list of topics that work well for a range of the types of essays that are on the test, so that he has a base list to pull from for examples. Overall, I am very pleased with his progress and believe that if he performs as well on the test as he has in our sessions, he should have a very good score."
