Session Summaries by Anatomy Tutors

Sunrise, FL Anatomy tutoring
Since the previous session, the student had worked on a couple of the problems I had given for extra practice. Looking at his work, I think he is getting a more firm grasp, but needs just a bit more time. He showed me a chemistry team quiz he had worked on and he did most of the problems. Together we worked on a very complicated and hard question that in the end helped improve his comprehension. Compared to that one difficult problem, the rest of the homework and study guide problems were easy and he did a great job persevering. In addition, he and I covered a little bit of about sine and cosine waves for Pre-Calculus with regards to the periods, amplitudes, and shifting of the graph. At the end of the session, I left the student with a few more practice problems. I have no doubt that he will be able to do them.

The session was extremely productive. We were able to complete all but one of her problems while reviewing the underlying concepts. In particular, we covered several multi-part problems involving mechanical energy. Already her class has gone over kinetic, gravitational potential, and elastic potential energy. She became more confident in her manipulation of energy equations and more automatic in recognizing energy concepts that simplified complex problems. She maintained an exceptional attitude throughout. I look forward to our continued work as the concepts are rapidly increasing in their complexity.

Today we covered topics of motion, specifically motion in a plane and motion along a straight line. The student was very receptive once again, but seemed to struggle a bit with topics of motion in a plane. It seems as though not enough clarification was given in regards to trigonometric identities and why certain equations were used. We then went over a few exam questions that she had, in which we were able to identify the relationship between a graph showing distance, velocity and acceleration versus time. We focused primarily on homework problems regarding kinematics.

Today we went over some of the student's old chemistry chapters and reviewed things that he had trouble with in the past such as percent composition, empirical formula, and thermochemistry. He did incredibly well on the practice problems. After that, I briefly went over equilibria, which he did before spring break and will continue on with after. He said he was very confident by the end of the session.

In this session we covered the basics of cell cycle, stages of cell cycle and mitosis, DNA replication, and chromosomal segregation. We also briefly covered the methods to study cell cycle. The student keeps advancing her knowledge in cell biology, and did great in her recent quiz in cell signaling, which we have covered in the previous sessions.

We discussed S domain circuit analysis. As part of the topic, we discussed the basics of conversion of an inductor, capacitor, dependent voltages, and dependent current sources. We also worked on some problems to derive an algebraic equation in S. After providing the basic physics behind the operation of the components, expression of each of each of them in S domain was explained to the student. I walked through each step of the problem solution with her. She has an exam today and is preparing for it.
