"She and I worked on her homework that was on finding zeros of an equation. We worked on finding the zeros graphically and algebraically. We also practiced using the regression feature to find a line of best fit given a set of points. Towards the end of the lesson, we worked on her group project and completed several of the questions."
"She is actually in AP Calculous. This kind of caught me off guard given my information said she was in pre-calc. Not a problem though! We went through some example problems and figured out what our steps where and completed her homework with all correct answers. We then broke down the problems into groups so she knew what formula to use when. I'm excited to see how her test turns out next week!"
"She said she needed some help understanding the unit circle, so I spent the session going over the relationship between degrees and radians, as well as the trig functions and special triangles and how it all ties into the unit circle. We also worked on the relationship between the unit circle and the sinusoids. We also worked on the meaning of domain and range and asymptotic. She kept saying how it makes so much more sense now and that it wasn't as hard as she was making it for herself. We plan on working on her physics next time on Tuesday."
"She was given another worksheet with segments of various functions. She was uncertain how to start certain problems. We went over finding convenient points for a couple of segments, and determining the extent of the domain to end with a < or > (for an open circle) or a <= or a >= (for a closed circle). She then went on to tackle more problems, asking questions when she was not sure of the next step. She completed the worksheet and felt that she had a much better understanding of the material."
"She was reviewing for a test over derivatives. She had to know how to find derivatives using the limit definition and its alternative form, plus all the short cut rules, such as the power rule, product rule, quotient rule, etc. She had a few questions first over some older stuff she didn't understand and then we went over the review problems until she had no more questions. She seemed to feel better about it after the session."
"She worked on transformations of trigonometric functions, finding amplitude, period, phase shift, critical points and graphing. We also reviewed even and odd functions and bearing (direction and distance) using the law of sines. Her understanding of transformations and bearing problems is growing. With a little more practice, I'm sure she'll master the content."
