Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed simplifying expression primarily through the log function and natural log. After a couple of practice examples, the student was able to successfully solve some of the errors from her quiz. We worked on two different worksheets. She catches on to information very quickly which is excellent. I think she'll be able to solve these problems with ease in the coming weeks."
"The student and I discussed the second derivative test. We talked about how inflection points differ from critical points. We also discussed techniques for finding the zeros of a second derivative. She worked through several problems."
"The student and I discussed the vertical line test. We practiced graphing and reading graphs. He remembered almost everything from our previous sessions. We also discussed some physics equations he is using for a math rollercoaster project. He did really well on this topic."
"The student and I discussed trigonometry more, except this time with more of an emphasis on non-right triangles. We discussed the law of sines and cosines and how to use them to find all angles and sides of a triangle. He seemed to understand the concept well."
"The student and I examined data in MS Excel, and exported it to SPSS. We created new variables including a pass/ fail and race group. We conducted a two-way ANOVA using race and type of test as independent variables, and combined test score as the dependent variable. In addition to the ANOVA, we conducted a Chi-square test of independence using race and pass/ fail. We noted that the first hypothesis was supported using a correlation coefficient. The second hypothesis involving moderation employed multiple linear regression. Those results were in table 2, and we highlighted the nature of the interaction in figure 1 of the article."
"The student and I finished all of his corrections and began lesson 33. I introduced exponent division to him because it was related to his prime factorization problems. He was able to understand the concept because he has a good grasp on greatest common factors. I did not notice him struggling with any specific concept. He seems to have a general understanding of the material."
