Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session we familiarized ourselves with the unit circle and with 30-60-90 and 45-45 triangles so that we could evaluate trig functions mentally and visually based on reference angles. I gave the student homework at the end to solve problems that pertained to what we discussed."
"We covered the student's homework about calculating angles and sides of a triangle using Law of Sine. We also covered predicting how many triangles will be formed using the given angle A and sides. He has strong background in the topic, he just needs to be more careful in inputting numbers in his calculator."
"We went over trig identity problems. The student is proficient when it comes to solving trig problems with specific angles. He has a little more of an issue when it comes to the problems where one has to convert multiple trig functions into one using the identities. Additionally, he had some issues with applying some of the longer identities. With a little guidance, he seemed to improve on both fronts, however. With some practice, I'm confident that he'll be more than prepared for an exam."
"We went over the concepts of synthetic division, synthetic substitution, graphing polynomials, factoring polynomials, and finding the zeros of polynomials. We did a lot of review to make sure the student understood the concepts from the previous week. We specifically focused on how to approach a problem based on the specific instructions given."
"The student needed help with a chapter on systems of equations and matrices. We started with graphing two linear inequalities. Then she reviewed multiplying matrices, finding determinants and inverses of matrices, and solving a system using Cramer's Method and the inverse of a matrix. She did not understand most of this before the session, but was getting them all correct by the end of the session."
"We covered solving rational expressions and simplifying rational expressions. We also covered all the topics on the student's homework."
