Today we finished some reading comprehension assignments that focused on knowing when to use nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and propositions. We also learned techniques on how to use context clues to deduce answers. After this we reviewed for the exam on Wednesday for math which covered 7.1, 7.2, and 7.4 which included lines, segments, rays, complementary and supplementary angles, vertical angles, and congruency as well as tips and tricks on triangle classification. Additional material covered included missing angle solving.

The student always has a great attitude toward tutoring, and is extremely self-aware and honest. He's working on the planner - it does take a long time to solidify this habit - and we discussed summer reading, even though we plan to break for the summer. We also came up with our plan for the next three weeks, for our sessions. Once the planning and organization were out of the way, he and I worked on his religion essay for a little while, and then went over some SAT-style grammar questions. His instincts about grammar are generally good, but he definitely could use some more technical knowledge. I recommended a book I believe will help in this regard. It's an accessible (and often funny) grammar book that will particularly help him with punctuation rules.

Last night we checked online for the student's current fourth quarter grades. We then read lines that he needs to memorize by Friday. He labeled a map of all the peninsulas for a history assignment. He also began a Renaissance project on Martin Luther that he will finish on Friday. He completed some higher level application questions on a science sheet about asexual vs. sexual reproduction. The student had his homework organized and wrote in his agenda.
