How can a tutor help you with summer tutoring?

A child who isn't academically challenged throughout the summer will lose around two months of reading comprehension and two and a half months of math skills on average. It's so important for parents to motivate their children to complete educationally inclined tasks like reading a book, solving math problems, or playing an academically based game. Just two to three hours per week of academic time will keep a child focused, prepared for the new school year, and will preserve his or her current school skills. One of the great ways that concerned parents are ensuring their children will get enough academic time to prevent the summer learning decline from happening is with the help of an experienced tutor. Varsity Tutors could help you find an independent summer tutor in Alpharetta, GA.

Since the summer can be a hectic time for many families, with vacations and trips, the tutor keeps an open schedule so you can always find a way to book a session for your child. An expert tutor can come to your home, a location of your choice, or can conduct the session face-to-face through an online platform. With enthusiasm, fun academic activities, and engaging explanations of concepts, your child could enjoy his or her one-on-one time with an experienced tutor. If your child has certain weaknesses in school, the tutor will be able to focus on these issues and help your child gain understanding and confidence before the new school year begins. An experienced summer tutor in Alpharetta can focus only on those issues that your child is struggling with to make their study sessions as efficient as possible.

Session Summaries by Summer Tutors

Summer Tutoring review by Courtney in Alpharetta, GA
For the sales class, the student received a 94% on his last test, and the next one will be around March. He received a 98% on his Law test, and we worked on his ch. 10 take home quiz for this week. This consisted, as usual, of ten questions out of the chapter. For economics, he has several worksheets due in March. We began this project, and completed the majority of the first half. For our meeting on Sunday, he will take Law notes on ch. 10, and read the online articles so we can continue the economics worksheets (focusing on GDP, CPI, inflation, and unemployment).

The student and I worked on his coding sheet assignment #1 and #2. This consisted of us both reading the article and answering a series of questions regarding the research study. I typed while he articulated. I also clarified certain terms and concepts and helped him to organize the assignment and assisted with phrasing his writing.

In this session we recorded a new instrument for the student's video project. We practiced left hand with the new interval that we introduced last class (3rds) as well as 5ths and 4ths. We also practiced intervals and introduced a new one: minor 3rd. Now we have been hearing and trying to identify 5th, 8th, 4th, minor 2nd, major 3rd and minor 3rd. At the end I introduced a new exercise combining the reading a rhythm and playing it with specific notes on the keyboard.

We worked on outlining techniques for take home essay assignments. The student reviewed the essay prompts to determine the requirements, and built the outlines for his assignments. We also reviewed the play and found footage of plays to help review. He followed up with his task of forming study groups with classmates, and will start scheduling these meetings in the upcoming weeks.

Summer Tutoring review by Jana in Alpharetta, GA
We made a schedule for the week. Then we discussed how exams and quizzes went last week and the current averages in her classes. She did extremely well and received an A on the quiz that we studied for last week and outlined the topic areas. We went over History and outlined one of the last sections of the chapter and reviewed the last section while adding notes to the slideshow she was given for that section by the teacher.
