"We solved problems relating quality to various other thermodynamic properties. Specifically we used the quality equations combined with derivation of system properties from to determine varying pressure, temperature, enthalpy, and specific volume. These are time consuming solutions, but he made good progress in understanding the general mechanisms exploited in the equations to reach the solution most easily."
"This session was also focused on topics relevant to the student's upcoming exam. We once again covered stoichiometry, though incorporated new concepts into stoichiometric calculations (e.g. atoms per molecule). We went over reaction energy diagrams as they relate to thermodynamic principles, and catalysts. With regards to catalysts, we conceptually discussed what they are, as well as what they affect and how that change is shown in the reaction energy diagram. We went over redox once more, and discussed the equilibrium constant. The student has picked up the material well."
"We worked on the student's homework set on a different chapter, which covers the analysis of truss. The process went smooth and we managed to solve 4~5 problems with the 1.5 hour. He understood the material, and just needed me to provide some confirmation for his analysis and occasional reminder of some of the tricks and basic geometry."
"Today we worked on two problems: Hooke's law and Poisson's ration, and Elasticity-plasticity. The difficulty was in solving combination problems that used multiple parts of the lessons. As this was the first session, I tried to learn how best to help the student in the future."
"Because we had a bit of a break between lessons, this class was a refresher and summary of all the work we had done with forces thus far. We went through a myriad of different force problems and made mathematical skeletons for each situation, almost like the formula sheets we had made in the past. It was comforting to see that the student had a solid grasp over the math, albeit a couple confusions with trig, but we ironed all those issues out."
"The student has a test tomorrow on Chapters 15 and 16. We went over pH and pOH calculations and how to calculate Ka from pH using an ICE table and the pH from Ka also using an ICE table. We practiced some problems with this. We also went over Ka and Kb."
