"The student and I caught up a bit and then jumped into an article I had printed out to practice her reading fluidity and comprehension. We ended up using the article as a sounding board for some grammar topics and colloquial usage. We also went over numbers as a refresher and plan on continuing next week. She also expressed interest in some oral practice next week where she can work on her listening comprehension."
"The student told me about his test scores for Spanish and that the things he missed were vocabulary that wasn't given in class to study specifically but is in his Spanish book. I told him to set a timer on his phone to read his Spanish book around 10-20 minutes every day and look up the words he doesn't know so he can learn more vocabulary. After that I showed him how to conjugate to the preterite form for -ar, -er/-ir verbs. I told him to practice writing out conjugations on his own time as well and only look up the answer after he's thought about it and can't remember. I gave him many verbs to practice and two irregular verbs so he has plenty to review on his own time."
"Student A: In this class we reviewed the comparatives and superlatives in Spanish, focusing in the similarities and differences with the English language. Student B: We continued practicing the uses of subjunctive, mainly writing, reading comprehension and how to make questions."
"We covered new verbs. The student had a good attitude and worked hard the whole time. I had him create sentences with the new verbs that described his friends and family to make the material more "real.""
"We went over verb tense preterit vs imperfect form. We then covered all the student's new vocabulary about accidents/ medical terms like. She then completed a series of exercises in her chapter and finished preparing for her quiz."
"This session took a similar form to the previous session. I had the student go over the translation to a Pliny letter that he had translated. After this, I had him parse a particular verb to make sure he could recognize its features plus what role it was playing in the sentence. We paid particular attention to relative clauses. I think that he has really gained a good understanding of these constructions and is now translating them right the first time he sees them. That is great progress."
