Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, we continued working on the factoring of the special polynomials. The student was able to implement the two distinct ways to approach the problems and did very well on her final assignment. In the next session, I will start introducing test format questions to make sure that she retains the concepts that she learned previously."
"We worked on reviewing the entire chapter that we had worked on up to this point, including independent vs dependent functions, solving systems of equations by elimination, substitution, different forms for equations. The student is doing well. She has a quiz and an exam coming up."
"The student will be taking the Algebra 1 final exam for credit. Today, we reviewed chapters 1-6 more thoroughly, and he said he understood factoring questions a lot better now. Next time, we will review chapter 7 and do a large amount of practice problems."
"We worked on simplifying radicals and adding and subtracting radicals. The student finished two worksheets. She showed improvement and understands the concepts. I left the student with problems to complete and scheduled a follow-up appt."
"On this day, the student and I worked on reviewing one of her tests. She is on break, so we felt it was a great opportunity to review some of the questions she still had from that test. She did very well and we covered most of the test."
"The student and I met today to help her prepare for her test on Friday over factoring, the quadratic formula, simplifying radicals, graphing quadratics, completing the square and a combination of the above. We went over each of the worksheets and practiced several problems to make sure she could do all kinds that will be on the test. She needed more help with the newer material to feel comfortable, but she was more confident in sheets we had gone over before."
"The student is getting ready for his end of course exam in algebra. We did review problems in sets (union, intersection), Venn diagrams, functions, and solving simple algebra equations. He will continue to practice problems on his own and we will plan to continue the review."
"We went over the sections over angle and perpendicular bisectors. We also went over medians, altitude, the Pythagorean theorem, and additional geometry topics. I let her know to also bring her past exams in her next session so that we can go over those and clarify any problems or questions that she is having then."
"In this session with the student we focused on simplifying radicals that are in exponent form. We discussed different methods for converting from exponent for to radical form and reducing. We also went over problems that used this concept along with different power rules to simplify an equation. He seems to have a good grasp on this topic."
"Tonight the student and I worked 23 problems in order to help her prepare for a quiz she is having tomorrow. The problems consisted of solving quadratic equations by completing the square and the quadratic formula and then using the discriminant to determine the possible number of solutions."
"We covered radicals and roots. This is a new topic. At this point I think we are caught up with older material. Since this is new material there isn't any struggle, just the need for repetition. I left additional problems from the text."
"In this afternoon's session, the student and I worked through and completed her math. She seemed very focused and confident in the material, and didn't make many mistakes."
