Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Resumed SAT prep as the student's test date approaches. We used this session to review and practice the objective portion of the SAT Writing section - identifying errors, improving sentences, and improving paragraphs. The student was able to consistently find correct answers and explain his choice in practice sections; projected score is currently in the high 90%s. As with the ACT, focus and test discipline will be paramount, but content knowledge and understanding are no issue. With some recommended prep just before, he should do very well on this section."
"The student worked through a math section. We did 20 question bursts timed with breaks to review in between. We will continue to work on timing. Over the next week, she will practice in the same way on her own. Each week, we will repeat the process with different subjects until she becomes more relaxed working within a certain amount of time. To supplement this, we will continue to work on time management strategies."
"Today, we started by covering her math homework. She did very well, and we talked about strategies/concepts for a couple of the harder problem types. Next, we covered reading, focusing on timing. Initially, she was reading too slowly, but by the end she did an entire passage perfectly under time! Finally, we talked in depth about expectations for the ACT essay, as well as how to brainstorm under pressure."
