"During this session, the student and I went through concepts concerning quadratic functions. After reviewing the homework problems, he completed a quiz on all the material that we have covered so far, and he excelled! We are planning on continuing with the next segment of material in our next session."
"During this session, we mainly worked on absolute value integration problems, more summation problems, and other integration methods. I can tell that the student has been practicing integration by parts and u-substitution methods and I think he has a solid understanding of the two techniques. I mentioned to him that he prepare a list or sheet with trigonometric identities, formulas, and other miscellaneous items that he should memorize. All in all, I think that with his independent work and our collaborative sessions that he will do well on the exam."
"I reviewed a research paper the student had for his summer course, providing feedback on the writing while assessing the research methodology. We then spent our time discussing his dissertation, focusing on its organization and what additional research could be helpful."
"I showed the student the website where his test will be conducted. We went over some questions and worksheets. We also went over some integral substitution. The student will look over the questions at another time."
"I tutored the student for the first time today. I had the family buy a calculus book that has a myriad of problems to go over. Today, we started from Chapter 7 with limits. Chapters 1 through 6 he had learned in previous math classes. He had gone over limits briefly before, but this was one of the first times he went through the concept extensively. He did well at comprehending the majority of the material. I am excited to continue to work with him as he appears to be a quick learner. We then covered the concept of continuity and delved into the beginning of derivatives at the end of the session."
"I worked with the student to review for her final exam. We went over L'Hopital's rule, linearization, implicit differentiation, chain rule, graphing functions, testing for even vs odd functions, proving continuity by way of limits, relating function graphs and derivative graphs to each other (finding inflection points and intervals of increasing and decreasing), finding asymptotes by way of limits, and more."
