Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered implicit differentiation, trig functions, and the exponential function. Most of the applications were to find tangent or normal lines. The student understands all of this pretty well; she will just need more practice with it going forward. I brought some extra problems to look at, and we will continue to look at a few AP problems every now and then to make sure she is comfortable with the way the exam is written."
"The student and I met tonight. We looked at his math first, which was on basic percentages (10, 15, 20). After that, we worked on science, where we worked on his vocabulary work and sentences. Then, we worked on his vocabulary in LA. Finally, he did his final draft of his writing homework. He read for me at the very end, and it was a good page of concise reading."
"We covered medians and angle bisectors of a triangle. The student understands the concept but sometimes makes mistakes when determining the resulting geometric parameters for the medians. I suggested she not rush the problems as she makes mistakes when she does. I created practice problems, which we solved during the session."
"Today, we reviewed for the student's test this upcoming Tuesday. We covered the entire section of polynomials, including rewriting them in standard form, finding algebraic solutions by getting each line in the form y=mx+b, and setting the lines equal to each other in a system of equations using synthetic division and long division as well. His confidence is building up as we are reviewing the topics. He has a positive attitude towards the material we review, and I gave him various strategies he can use to practice his work. I am confident that he will review all of the material we went over again in order to prepare for his test."
"In this session, we covered a lot of material, including a review of more than half of the unit's sections and the unit's speedback test. The student has some experience with most of the topics (complex numbers, radicals, imaginary roots, etc.), so he was able to complete most of the work with minimal supervision."
"Reviewed parallel and perpendicular lines and their slopes. The student no longer struggles with finding slopes of two points. Overall, he understands the concept."
