"We covered the material for the first unit in her Weather and Climate. The first two sections were simple - mostly material about what makes up the atmosphere, dew point temperature, contrails, where the first oxygen on earth came from, etc. The student seemed to have a relatively good grasp on this material. Next was more about how life as we see it on our planet developed - when did plants starting producing oxygen, what is photosynthesis, etc. She is going to look through the material for the next section in the ATMO class, finish her 20 math assignments, and we planned a session for tomorrow where we can begin to prepare her for the final draft of her English paper."
"Today we reviewed the essentials of earth geology. This includes the composition of the crust, mantle, and core. We went over plate tectonics, Pangaea, and seabed spreading. We discussed how sonar works and allows scientists to deduce distances to objects. The student is knowledgeable in the subject and remembers concepts very well. Overall, I felt like this was a great session."
"We applied Bernoulli's equation to fluid flow problems and calculating friction loss. I mentioned that looking through the F&R Elementary Principles of Chemical Processes would be a good way to review Bernoulli's equation to understand it better for the future."
