Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I ran through multiple practice sections, discussing strategies and concepts he previously didn't know. He has some gaps in math, but he seems to be understanding things after they are explained."
"We went over what the student will present for his oral presentation on the documentary. I had him both write and read out loud what he is planning to say in class. Throughout the process, we discussed the documentary."
"The student and I continued to work on her quantitative reasoning skills by working through a set of practice problems. She did very well on the first set, scoring 16/20. We went over the questions she struggled with, and I explained the math concepts involved. On the second set, she struggled more, as it involved more difficult problems and more logic. I went through each of the problems she missed, and explained how to use some strategies to work through the logic-based problems. We will continue to work on this."
"The student and I had a very productive session today. He'd been struggling with applying strategy in reading comp recently, so we took the time to discuss his thought process and approach. I think that having a bit of a refresher and talking out a passage really helped refocus him. We plan to continue with more practice and vocabulary strategy."
"The student and I had our first lesson today. She'd already studied a bit for the test, so we skipped the introduction and went over a general review of the math section, then completed the Arithmetic chapter and got through about 1/2 of the Algebra chapter. I assigned the problems from the Arithmetic chapter as homework."
"We reviewed the student's homework in the beginning. He feels more confident about factoring after having practiced it himself. We went over the data homework questions he wanted to discuss as well. Things are beginning to click for him, and what he needs the most at this point is practice. We began a GMAT diagnostic test afterward and got to question 30. He will finish the rest of it for homework and do questions from the GMAT prep materials he has at home as well. Next time, we'll go over the diagnostic test, any materials he wants to discuss from his practice books, and triangles."
