Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed the practice Exam #2 that covered reflexivo, impersonal, and reciproco verbs. We also went over Ser/Estar/Haber. We then worked on identifying sentence structure errors and correcting them. The student participated and worked through each problem on her own. I asked her to practice basic vocabulary words for our next session."
"The student and I worked on an algebra worksheet to understand factoring and simplifying with multiple variables. She was very receptive and felt much better by the end of the session. She's got the fundamentals down strongly and with some slowing down can excel."
"The student and I reviewed for her midterm by practicing the present verb conjugations and vocabulary that she learned this and last semester. She is on track to do well on her combined written and oral exam. So far, she is picking up the language quickly!"
"I helped the student correctly conjugate verbs, work on defining vocabulary, and practice pronunciation, all while completing an assignment on the online software. It is evident he is a bright student, so further practice on memorizing vocabulary and how to properly conjugate will help him take his Spanish to the next step."
"We covered prepositions and chores around the house. The student is doing really well, and I can tell that she has been studying a lot. Her pronunciation and use of words around the house is greatly improved. We worked a little bit on irregular verbs and conjugations, and we will continue to practice those and the difference between "ser" and "estar" in the next session. These verbs can be very confusing as they mean the same thing in English but are used in different situations in Spanish. Although she cheerfully participated in the review games I brought this week, she requested a return to the ones that I had done before. I appreciated the feedback so that I know which games help her the most."
"This week the student reported an amazing grade on his vocabulary quiz that we prepared for last week. He got OVER 100%! Great job! He also had a chapter exam later that week - this test was more challenging with some tricky questions. We reviewed the questions he got wrong to get a feel for how we can be better prepared next time. He started a new chapter this week which involves concepts and vocabulary related to accidents and injuries. We spent the majority of this session learning the new vocab from this chapter using the self-test technique, learning a few words at a time and then quizzing him on them to see which ones he is struggling with. We went through the entire list, but more practice is needed. He should quiz himself on these words several times over the next week."
