What grade are they currently in?

Alfredo is a wonderful teacher. My 7 year old son is able to focus on the lesson for the full hour because Alfredo makes if fun to learn Spanish. The sessions are recorded so we can go back and review and also see how well they interact together. Alfredo is also very willing to work with our schedule which changes frequently and he always makes time for our son's lessons.

Spanish Tutoring review by María Paz in Frederick, MD
In this session we worked on how to properly write an essay in Spanish. The student, at this point, has enough knowledge on grammar and vocabulary for writing coherent ideas. She seemed overwhelmed with the idea of writing an essay. We both worked on useful techniques, approaches, and steps to follow before venturing to write. I'm excited to see how she does on this small assignment. I showed her that she has enough vocabulary and she doesn't need to use any other words that she hasn't learned. I left her with notes, and an outlined that we worked on the entire session to help her with this small assignment. There is no length for the essay. She can write as much or as little as she want. The goal is to make her come out of her comfort zone and to put effort on this assignment.

Spanish Tutoring review by Danny in Frederick, MD
We first made a list of his homework, made time estimates, and prioritized his assignments. The first assignment he wanted to work on was a set of social studies flash cards about Ancient Egypt, which he completed fairly quickly. The next one was a Spanish worksheet that used the verbs ser and conocer, as well as conjugation and adjective-noun agreement. He is starting to understand and remember the rules and patterns of conjugation, which is very promising. The worksheet ended up taking longer than he estimated, but he was able to finish it without too much trouble. Lastly, he worked on a writing assignment for science, which he completed quickly. For our next session, I've assigned him more Spanish vocabulary work, reading for 20-30 minutes every day, and making homework lists/estimates every day. I also asked him to write out, in his own words, his understanding of the rules of conjugation -- what the different verb forms are, when to use them, etc.

I brought the student additional flash cards today that will help him practice imperfect verbs. I decided to include examples of the present tense, regular preterites and the new imperfect. I think seeing them side by side will help him to see the patterns and that will help with memorization. He did some exercises from the book that proved to be beneficial. I made a written template of the answers so that it's easier for him to translate and conjugate later on. I'll bring that to him on Thursday.

The student and I worked to prepare for a quiz. We reviewed dialogue about clothing, numbers and shopping through interactive dialogue, a number game and completed a worksheet together. I left him with a few phrases that he should look over before his quiz.

Spanish Tutoring review by Garrett in Frederick, MD
The student currently does not have any tests or assessments coming up, so we opened our session today with some warm-up, using the flashcards that we made in some of our previous sessions. After this, we moved on to the new unit that her class is working on, involving foods and the food groups. We worked together on some activities in her workbook, altering them when necessary to promote better retention. We also did some work with indefinite articles, combining them with the food vocab. After this we worked on some more flashcards, drawing pictures on each one to encourage sight recognition. We did some work with those flashcards and added them to the larger group. We had about five minutes left after that, so I had her complete an exit slip and this concluded our session.
