Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session with the student we went over chapter 3, which was about linear functions and their various graphs. He seemed to know the subject matter very well, so we went over practice problems in which he seemed to struggle more. After going through a couple problems, the student got the hang of these problems and was able to master this chapter."
"During this session, we covered Quadratic Equations Functions. More specifically, we went over the standard and general forms of the equation of a parabola and how to graph using each. We reviewed completing the square as well. We covered optimization problems last. She definitely picked up on everything well after being shown some examples or methods for solving the problems. I look forward to monitoring her progress throughout the course as the class covers more in depth and conceptual topics later on."
"During today's session, we reviewed the graphing of functions. As functions were graphed, the student was asked to identify the behavior of the graph. A homework assignment provided exercises used for her practice. She was able to describe the graph behavior of three different functions."
"First, we reviewed the homework I had left the student with. He only got one problem wrong, which I let him redo to see where he made the mistake. Then, we covered his homework on transformations of functions. I had him write down steps of the transformations vs. working everything in his head. We also made sure he didn't use the calculator to do the work for him, but simply verify that his work on paper was correct. He is growing in confidence each session, and understands why I let him work through the problems rather than me doing it for him."
"For the first half of the session, we went over his homework on complex numbers. We then began reviewing for next week's test by going over piecewise functions and radical equations from his class manual."
"Great first lesson with the student. He took all his math in French, and so is having trouble adjusting. We went over polynomial functions and logarithms. Once we reviewed the basics - he had missed the class - he got it and was able to use the rules to solve questions."
