Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered mainly solving algebraic equations and problems involving the Pythagorean theorem. He did not really struggle with anything tonight. He just needed a few reminders within problems on what step to do next. He had a great attitude tonight towards all of the material that was reviewed, and gained a lot of confidence."
"The student and I covered many different topics from her final exam review today, including: mod arithmetic, equivalence relations, charged fields, Venn diagram word problems, arithmetic and geometric sequences, and finding the sum of the series. She really worked hard to master these topics by completing multiple problems. I also directed her to download an app in order to study. She plans on doing more studying over the weekend and meeting again on Sunday evening to do more practice with me!"
"The student and I covered math facts and long division. She is getting stronger and stronger each session, and continues to have a positive, upbeat attitude. We practiced a strategy for multiples of nine, which she has already mastered."
"The student and I covered more concepts: nth roots, function operations & composite functions, and graphing radical functions. For evaluating and solving nth roots, we ran into some differences in the methods we used to solve (factor tree vs. finding greatest divisible perfect square value). I encouraged her to stick to the method she learned in her class. From this point forward, we practiced problems according to the method she learned in class and saw improvement as we did more problems. Overall, it was a good session, and I think she is confident enough for her quiz tomorrow."
"The student and I covered more linear equation word problem set-ups. He explained that he understood the rest of the review packet well and just needed more of a grasp of the word problems. I helped him understand that setting up word problems requires putting the information into two categories. I gave him additional practice problems that we worked on together. He put set up equations on his own. He worked on additional problems from his review packet as well. He connected questions from his review packet to problems we worked on from the questions I provided and set up the equations with minimal support. The student was focused and driven, and he worked ahead."
"The student and I covered multiple applications of multiplication and division principles that she has been taught, including word problems. She understood all of the material very well, and feels confident about her abilities. This was the most attentive she has been in any of our sessions. This was our best session to date."
