For an hour and a half, we focused on English. We worked with verbal skills and reading comprehension. Pull some more questions on what sentence would best end this paragraph. He struggled with that. For math, we worked on coordinated geometry. I taught slope formula and practiced it. We also worked on solid geometry-volume formula. He had never learned it, so we did just one problem. We'll pick up on it next time.

We covered circumference and area of a circle. The student struggles with comprehension of the material and requires a lot of repetitive explanation to solve problems. He is confused about how to solve equations. I have left him with practice to help him stay in touch with the concepts so that he does not forget them and so that he can improve his math skills.

We looked at diagnostic #6 for CARS. We talked about the nature of questions in CARS and how they tend to be global in scope. We looked at the first passage and discussed answer choices afterwards and debated questions that the student missed to help shed some light on both the difficulty and fairness of questions asked on the MCAT. The student is going to attempt the rest of the diagnostic, and we plan on discussing it next Monday.

We went over two logic games. I talked about how to test answer choices, how to create a table, and how to keep track of items. Also, I went over how to connect the rules and to distinguish between what's fixed and what's open. We went over several logical reasoning questions. I talked about how to recognize conditionals, counterexamples, and how to find assumptions, applying the basic principles of conditional reasoning.
