"In this session, we covered how to identify angles, triangles, shapes, and finding the measurements of angles and triangles. The student knew how to do these but he wanted more practice. I gave him notes on identifying the four different triangles. I told him that a scalene triangle is a triangle that has no equal sides, an isosceles triangle has two equal sides, an equilateral triangle has three equal sides, and a right triangle adds up to 90 degrees. I drew different angles, triangles, and shapes in order for him to identify them. He was able to get all of them correct. After that, I showed him how to find the missing measurement of an angle. I told him that in order to find the measurement of an angle he would need to take the given angle and subtract it with 180. I also told him that in order to find the missing angle in a triangle, he would need to add the angles up and then subtract it by 180. I gave him practice problems and he was able to get the correct answers. Overall, he is still doing great."
"Went over a couple of topics with the student which included: fraction sum and product, equations with exponentials, and a little bit of variable exponential cancellation."
"We looked at how the student was keeping up with organization skills, took an advance look at more Algebra for the summer, and worked on his Social Studies definitions for homework."
"I helped the student review her homework assignment for math. She had a worksheet of determining the factors of polynomial equations. While discussing the problems, we also reviewed determining the factors/multiples; adding/subtracting negative numbers, and area of rectangles."
"The student and I covered polynomial functions, their graphs, and then we discussed how to find x-intercepts, y-intercepts, holes, asymptotes, and end behavior. We also went over roots and the diamond method of finding them. The student seems to grasp the material quite easily, and has stated that math is one of her favorite subjects. It was a great session!"
"Today we went through more review in preparation for the student's final. We started off with a few questions on one of the practice tests. We then discussed random variables, probabilities, proportions, means, and z-scores. We finished up the session with a practice set that I brought. We will meet again for another quick study session before the student takes the final."
