Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We focused on percent change and percent word problems. The student is to study vocab flashcards and complete math practice sections. We will go over any confusion from these activities during our first session Monday, after which she will take full practice test, which we will review during the second session Monday evening."
"We reviewed combinations, permutations, and statistics. We also reviewed the data interpretation section of quantitative. She has a solid foundation and has done a great job preparing on her own thus far. I'm sure she'll do great!"
"We went over some practice problems that I assigned. We worked on solving systems of equations, working with ratios, decomposing word problems, exponent rules, prime numbers, area, circumference, and perimeter of triangles and circles. He got a lot more comfortable with setting up ratio questions, working with word problems, and using the Pythagorean theorem. Next lesson, we're going to work more with calculating the area of different shapes, the compound interest equation, and how to find the fastest way to solve a system of equations."
"We worked from the student's book of GRE practice problems. Topics included: probability, probability of independent events, permutations, combinations, compound combinations and roster sizes within a population. Good session. The student is getting perceptibly stronger with each session."
"We worked on rates, statistics and probabilities, and how to recognize each. From there, we worked on factoring and foiling out quadratic equations. Finally, we went on to work on sequences and how to create a formula for the sequence."
"We worked through a practice section, and got some more experience with algebraic modeling. The student was frustrated with herself today, but she needn't be: everyone has off-days, and the test is still a month away."
