"I provided help and support in the student's schoolwork in Math. We worked on how to identify slope of a line, point-slope form, and slope-intercept form of a linear equation. He did struggle a bit in identifying if a point lies on the line if given the equation. I showed him that you can plug in the x- and y-coordinates into the equation to see if it works. If the points satisfy the equation, then they are a solution to the linear equation. He was able to quickly pick up the concepts and the material."
"I worked with the students on their homework and getting ahead in class. We will continue to work on factoring equations in future sessions."
"In our session, the student and I covered solving and graphing inequalities (simple & compound inequalities, absolute values). We discussed strategies for his upcoming examination. He is motivated to learn and did not struggle to understand the concepts once explained. I left him with one practice problem and suggested that he attempt more problems in Unit 4.5 to solidify his knowledge."
"In preparation for the student's upcoming algebra review, we did a large amount of practice problems that covered topics from his algebra classes from last year. He needed some small reminders of various techniques he had forgotten, and by the end, he had no difficulty with the review material."
"In preparation for this student's midterm on Wednesday we reviewed several problems from the study guides, involving adding and subtracting polynomial expressions, multiplying and distributing polynomials, and equations with negative coefficients and variables on both sides. This student has a VERY good understanding of these concepts, but should continue to be cautious and not rush through problems in order to avoid making minor mistakes. We worked through 10 polynomial problems and 14 multi-step equations with variables on two sides (really these are sets of linear equations, but we'll get to that soon). After working through several of these problems, I feel confident this student is prepared for their test. Great session!"
"In the initial session, we reviewed topics recently covered in the student's class. The topics included multiplying binomials, simplifying exponents, and direct variation. The student has a strong foundation, and with practice and patience he can be successful."
