Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we reviewed various concepts related to the student's Research Design final exam. Topics included Type I and Type II error, moderators vs. mediators, between vs. within subjects factors, and identifying DV and IV and level of measurement."
"On Wednesday, the student and I worked on elapsed time and on spelling words. We worked on reading individual nonsense words and normal words. We also found the main idea in paragraphs and then used details to support claims."
"One student and I covered new work on order of operations, completing a worksheet. The other student and I reviewed multi- step equation solving in one variable. We approached it from the point of view of developing a consistent process for all problems."
"Our session covered some of the basics for linear systems, and how to solve for the intersection between two linear equations. The student needed help with several of the basics of arithmetic, such as reciprocating fractions within fractions and distributing variables into binomial terms, so we went over those in detail. He has been asking questions to clear up confusion on intersections and some of the methods used to find the solutions, which we were able to cover enough ground on to move onto additional methods and concepts for our future sessions to cover."
"Our session went very well today. She was eager to work on the same math she was confused about yesterday, and she caught on to the technique I taught fairly fast. I was impressed! She did well! We worked on her spelling words, and I informed her we were going to work on those tomorrow. I am going to test her to see where she is with those. She was also excited to take brain breaks where we played comprehension bingo, and she did well with that. We are going to continue to work on that, for it will help build her reading comprehension. Lastly, we read the story "Llama Llama Misses Mama." She loved the story and read it out loud to me fairly well. We will continue to work on reading as well!"
"Overall, the student did great! He was picking up on concepts really well and noticed trends in free response questions. Please keep doing more practice problems to ensure you understand the concepts fully!"
