I presently teach at the college level and I have also taught mathematics from grades K-12. Students benefit from tutoring sessions with me because they feel confident with the assignments they are given, and are able to retain and utilize the concepts that I have taught them. I know that they usually understand or master the topics I teach them, because I informally assess them at the end of the session and their results are at or above the level they are expected to be at. In addition, I use approaches where I relate the subject matter to their personal interests where they can form a connection.

I love helping students succeed. You don't have to like or think you are good at math or science to do what you need to go to your next level. And if you do like math and science, all the better. I have a Bachelors in physics and a Masters in math. I have taught at the college and university level. I enjoy questions and personal satisfaction with every student's success. Many times a student is very capable but just is struggling with the language of a subject. The key is to not talk to a student in math, but in a language that makes sense to them. With years of college teaching experience, I have had great success in reaching those students who are bright and willing but just need a little boost.

I have been a college-level Philosophy professor and Classics scholar for the past 15 years. I am a natural teacher and a forever-student. I have a B.A., an M.A., and a Ph.D. I love learning, and I love how positively the life of the mind impacts one’s existence in this world. I enjoy sharing this with others, and my ability to assist a wide-variety of types of learners is confirmed by the hundreds of students who have attested to my ability over the years and in different settings and institutions. My extensive education has given me an immense appreciation for all things philosophical and for the many great civilizations of human history, as well as an in-depth understanding of the relationship between human beings and the earth. In addition to intellectual pursuits, I also teach and perform tribal belly dance, am an artist, a lover of music, and a lover of nature. For more information about me, please have a look at my attached resume. I would welcome the opportunity to assist you in achieving your best academically.

The climate of debate surrounding composition studies in today's college classroom requires both new and experienced instructors to cautiously examine the methods, intentions, and practical outcomes of their respective pedagogies. English departments across the country now recognize that "the claim that writing can enhance learning has been conflated with the claim that writing does enhance learning" (Leki 67), casting considerable doubt on the putative efficacy and necessity of the freshman composition course in post-secondary education. While many proponents of traditional pedagogy continue to support the idea of writing proficiency as a life skill whose development constitutes an integral part of students' general education, a growing number of academic professionals insist that "students should be able to see the relationship of the [writing] assignment to both the class objectives and their 'real world' future work" (Reid and Kroll 20). In the past few decades, the nature of composition courses and the assignments they involve have changed to reflect an increasing "emphasis on argument and research" (Lunsford and Lunsford 793) that stresses the importance of writing across the curriculum and of preparing students for the writing tasks that await them in the professional arena. Journalism, technical writing, business correspondence, and legal and medical documentation are just a few of the specialized writing genres have emerged to compete with academic writing for recognition in the composition classroom. However, these genres may be too occupationally grounded to meet the needs of entering students who have yet to choose a major and whose primary objective is to receive an academic degree. Accordingly, one of my chief pedagogical goals is to engage students with writing exercises and instruction that will strengthen their accuracy of expression while teaching the methods of description, narration, analysis, and persuasion necessary to the successful completion of written coursework throughout their college experience.

As new information becomes available, based on research, we need to adapt and be ready to evolve with it. This does not mean that you have to lose your sense of identity, personal attributes or other aspects of you that makes you unique as a teacher or an individual. What this means is that you will be so equipped for the challenges ahead that you can help your colleagues as well as your students. As an educator I believe that there is potential in all of us just waiting to be nurtured so as to promote growth. There are hidden talents waiting to be discovered and ushered into the right direction. I believe that by channeling the prerequisite skills students come with, we can unearth skills beyond imaginable. My philosophy with regards to Education is that instruction must take into consideration the learner and varies based on specific learning targets.I love finding new and exciting adventures that I can share with my kids. Going to theme parks, museums, boat rides, wherever the adventure takes us.
