Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"On Tuesday we went over the material for the student's bio test. She did really well with the material. We also went over the packets of homework she needed to turn in. On Thursday we watched two bio videos and went over her algebra homework. I will be making a practice problem packet for her to work on to help her where she is having problems in algebra."
"Today we worked on classifying polynomials and their orders. The student moved through the material very quickly and then we worked on his physics homework. Most of the material concentrated on the conservation of momentum theorem which he struggled with for a bit, but in the end he got a good handle on elastic collisions."
"We covered 2D vectors addition and subtraction. The student's attitude was positive and productive towards the material. I recommended the student to study the book chapters before going to the class. We reviewed most of the homework and discussion section problems, and left some of the problems for self-practice. The student had no problem solving physics problems using algebra and trigonometry."
"We went over the concepts of acid/base, pH, precipitation reactions, the first law of thermodynamics, and enthalpy of reaction. I also heavily reviewed with him acid/base chemistry, specifically strong acids/bases, and pH, pOH calculations. Once I did a sample of each type of question, he had no issues doing follow up questions, which was very encouraging. I suggested that he review all his previous exams in preparation for his final exam."
"The student and I prepared for her upcoming AP biology exam on Monday. Today, we reviewed past labs on topics including osmosis, cellular respiration, and enzymes. We will meet again tomorrow morning to prepare further for the test."
"We covered some very advanced topics, but wow is your daughter smart. Firstly, we covered radicals. She needs to know there are 3 steps to radicals, initiation, propagation, and termination. Drawing them will help if she wants more pictures or problems like them, have her text me and ask for some. Secondly we talked about oxidation reactions. It's hard to iterate what we did but I am always available to help her if she needs it. Lastly, alkene reactions, particularly polymerization of them. Two words: Carbocation Stability. You have my number, please feel free to call or text if you have additional questions and I'll be available for additional time tomorrow and Thursday if she wants more attention. Best of luck, your daughter is amazingly sharp."
