Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered aromaticity chapter and continued on to review earlier chapters. He is a smart and bright student. He got B last semester but doesn't memorize things, but rather learns them and it gives him an advantage over others in the future."
"Today we covered the anatomy and physiology of the heart. This included the anatomy of the heart, blood vessels of the heart, pathways of blood, the conduction system, and certain pathologies. The student felt much more confident in the material by the end of the session and had a clear direction of what she needed to focus on! I offered diagrams and simple word associations to help her remember the material. I also suggested that she review her class PowerPoints one more time before her exam. I believe that her knowledge in this area greatly increased after our tutoring session!"
"The student and I prepped for her chemistry exam that will cover bonding, polarity, and bond geometry. We went over example problems, and I explained the circumstances that would create a non-polar bond (symmetry/one type of element). We then spent the majority of time going through jeopardy questions her teacher had given her. I could tell by the end of the session that she was much more confident in her ability to answer questions on bonding/polarity."
"In this session, we mainly went over gravitational force problems. This was a wholly new concept to the student, so we went over each problem very slowly in order to make sure that he understood every step needed to solve it. After going over 4 examples, I believe he understands the concepts for the most part - he will need to do more practice problems before he'll have mastery of the subject!"
"This week, the student and I worked on nomenclature for ionic and covalent compounds, including polyatomic ions. She has been really quick to pick up concepts every time we have worked together. We often read sections of the book together to make sure she has a full understanding of the topic, and I think it really helps her see the full picture."
"We reviewed material for the unit three test that the student is taking on Thursday. This unit included writing chemical formulas, naming ionic compounds, determining percent composition, empirical formula, and molecular formula. He was doing a great job working through the problems, and I think he gained a better understanding of the material for the test. We also went over one lab activity involving stoichiometry. This lab reviewed balancing equations, determining molecular mass, and determining the amount of reactant needed and product made in chemical reactions."
