Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed concepts of area and perimeter of regular polygons including terms such as apothem, radius, etc.. We applied these concepts to practice questions in the book. I advised the student to prepare an equation sheet and complete additional problems from each section of the chapter in preparation for his test on Thursday. In Physics we discussed concepts of kinetic, potential, and thermal energy and applied them to a lab worksheet."
"We went over her homework on special triangles and using the Pythagorean theorem. We worked on taking notes, and then did more practice with special triangles, since she found them particularly confusing. I left her with extra practice on the Pythagorean Theorem."
"Today we started with Geometry and we ended with Physics. The student's Geometry class just started a new chapter, and he had some homework on perimeters of oddly shaped polygons. We then worked through three complete, informal physics labs together. The first was on series resistors, the second on equivalent parallel resistors, and the third on different parallel resistors. He and I went through this topic last week before his class started it, so he didn't need much help. We made it through a lot of material in a very short amount of time."
"Special properties of right triangles, the Pythagorean theorem, congruent triangles and the requirements for congruency. We worked on his homework, where he had no issue with the algebra, but needed a little help finding congruent triangles. After a quick review of vertical angles, and opposite interior angles, he did well."
"The student and I went over a few homework problems. There were a few problems that she hadn't had a chance to thoroughly complete, due to extenuating circumstances. However, we easily went over them with great success. She has very few issues with how she studies or completes assignments. The fact that she had missed some school was her only concern with an exam coming up. Specific equations she had questions about, she quickly and completely understood. I have absolute faith in her quick return to where she left off academically."
"In this session we reviewed what we had covered last week with the student. We covered the Pythagorean Theorem and calculating square roots. After several practices she was able to remember how to compute square roots. Then I had her work on problems with the Pythagorean Theorem formula to calculate the missing side of right triangles. She had less trouble after practicing the computation of the square roots."
