Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did a diagnostic overview of all the topics covered in the ISEE upper level. The student was very attentive and especially good at the math concepts. He needs some more experience with the verbal comprehension, so that is what we will be covering in the next sessions, as well as techniques for taking the exam."
"We spent the majority of this session reviewing sub-concepts for math and the quantitative reasoning. The student appeared to be excited to do practice problems in order to expand his knowledge base. As we went along, I wrote out helpful tips on the white board for the student to save. I also used selected practice problems to gauge progress, and noticed that the student has improved in his ability to simplify complex expressions. It was a great session!"
"We started the session by having the student complete a reading comprehension mini test with two passages under timed conditions. She was able to finish on time and she got a 80% , which shows progress. She did well on main idea questions and when looking back at wrong answers she was able to correct herself by using context clues. For the next half of the session we worked on math achievement. She spends too much time on calculations and so we worked on strategies that are more time efficient in regards to problems that require multiple steps and long division. She answered percent of increase problems as well as equations with variables and we lastly reviewed factors and exponents. She still has trouble with calculations that involve positive and negative numbers. She retook notes which she can review for upcoming sessions. I left her with math achievement problems, a vocabulary test, and a essay for practice which we will continue to review in the 1.5 hour sessions."
