The student completed diagnostics tests today in Spanish to help determine his strengths and areas in need of improvement. He already has a working knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary and is interested in learning more Spanish as he pursues a second bachelor's degree this fall. He was very receptive to the materials I used during the session today, inquired about online foreign language programs, and even volunteered to complete a homework assignment from his college textbook. Needless to say, he is eager to become a better speaker of Spanish and one day hopes to teach the language at the secondary level. During this session, we focused on using the correct grammar, verb conjugations, and vocabulary. We also discussed some of the methodologies he would cover in his education classes. I think he has taken the necessary steps to improve his Spanish and believe he will one day make a great teacher.
