The student and I went over 2 FRQ's today. He is still able to "beat around the bush" with the correct answer but is not concise. He'll give me an answer that's not necessarily wrong but there is definitely a stronger answer out there. We also worked on improving his sentences and he is definitely doing better here.

The student has a test over chapters 9, 11, and 12 in his human geography class on Tuesday, so we spent today studying the terms and concepts which he will likely see on the test. I started by asking him the general topics in each chapter (services, development, and industry) and what they meant in terms of the course. We went through each chapter's study guide and talked about most of the terms and the big ideas which were highlighted. Talking through most of the concepts worked, but we would occasionally need to look into the book to get a fuller sense of certain terms and how they relate to each other. Moving back and forth between chapters, I tried to tie all of the concepts together so that they could be more easily remembered from a base of information.
