Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we studied limiting reagent. The student was able to do all the calculations with a little help. He did however have some difficulty understanding why the calculations worked. To help them understand I emphasized the concept of running out. The seem to help very much."
"The student and I did a final review for his AP Biology test. We went through a few Free Response Questions together and reviewed DNA replication, transcription, and translation. I gave him review materials to study before his test on Monday."
"We reviewed molarity, conversions, significant figures, isotopes, net vs complete ionic reactions, naming of ions, naming of compounds."
"The student finished her last semester of classes and ended with an A in biology, which we were both very happy about! She is taking several classes over the summer session and I will continue to help her with her chemistry class. We discussed some scheduling ideas about how to prep for her GRE exam while taking classes and I think we found a way to make it all work for her. Her chemistry class begins on Tuesday, so we will have more to work on after that. She has been working in advance of her classwork, so we discussed some practice problems for the metric system and talked a little bit more about significant figures and stoichiometry."
"The student did great, we did a bit of 3d E&M, and we examined Lorentz force, and biot savart law, and other magnetic field material."
"For today's session, we looked over problems from the student's practice exam in order to prepare her for the upcoming test this Wednesday. We discussed questions relating to Fischer esterification, synthesis, mechanisms, and a variety of "stand-alone" reactions. She is becoming more proficient with recalling reactions. I've offered to meet again tomorrow if she feels she needs more guidance before the exam. If not, continuing to practice these questions from her book will be of most help."
