"We finished with 2-step equations. We took a quiz. She missed 3 questions, but got 11 right! We talked about the three she missed and how even getting one more of those could really impact her grade."
"The student achieved a new record in identifying sets in the logic activity. He identifies more complex sets along with the more obvious ones. The student also completed an online lesson on probability that I found to support his conceptual understanding of this topic. This is a subject that is covered on the 3rd grade ISAT exam. He then read aloud from a math book for the last part of the tutoring session. The next session will focus on reinforcing his understanding of probability and statistics. It will be held on Sunday at 4pm."
"This was my first tutoring session with two students I've never worked with before. I worked with each student for 45 minutes. With the first student, we looked at her academic report card, talked about what she needed help with, and identified her strengths and weaknesses. We then worked on grammar and focused on adverbs. We also reviewed other important parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We also worked on some reading comprehension. I worked with the second student on multiplication facts and helping him to learn them so he could pass timed tests at school. He also did some reading and we worked on reading comprehension. Lastly, we worked on writing; He answered some questions so I could get a sense of his writing skills."
"More on factoring polynomials, mostly review. Started to solve said polynomials and apply the solutions to real world problems and diagram-type problems. Progress was made. The student is more comfortable with the material going into her test this week."
"We went over some Acid and Base notes that cover more Henderson Hasselbalch situations. We went through many examples and did a worksheet. We then began to review chemical reaction types. We went over Single, Double, and Combustion reactions. I gave her homework to practice these types of reactions and predict the products."
"The student wanted to learn conversational Mandarin in preparation for his visit to Taiwan/ China. We covered a brief history of the Chinese language and the culture of Chinese-speaking countries. We reviewed pronunciations and conversational dialogue that would be applicable during his trip. The student needed help with translating what he wanted to say in Chinese, but he was very interested in learning the language and culture. He had an ambitious attitude and was quick to pick up the material."
