Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We looked over the feedback from the first paper, and the student gave me some class materials I hadn't seen before, which will help going forward. We wrote an intro paragraph and thesis statement for "Three Haiku, Two Tanka.""
"The student submitted a 'Request to Do Research' to his professor. His topic was on corporate responsibility. After evaluating the request, I encouraged him to use a previous paper he did on wellness. We plan to meet this Tuesday."
"This session was with both students. We reviewed and discussed the essays that they submitted: student 1 read an article about leaving a child unattended in a car, and student 2 read an article about distracted driving while using a cell phone. I marked up hard copy and left them with those comments in addition to our discussion."
"It was our first meeting and she was only three days into her classes. We went over her syllabi for the two classes she's taking and discussed several strategies for how to stay on top of her work. We developed a more comprehensive idea of what she is hoping to get out of tutoring and set goals to achieve."
"The student and I reviewed compound words and vocab from yesterday session. I introduced homophones and root words and completed Lesson 6 on homophones. He wrote summary and I taught him how to expand his writing by adding adjectives to nouns. I taught him how to check writing to make sure it answers and make corrections to expand clarify ideas."
"The student and I spent the session finishing her outline for her history research paper. We came up with examples from her notecards and summarized them in the appropriate section. She then wrote topic sentences for the paragraphs that did not have them yet."
