Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I think we had a great session. The student has a great ability to work with a lot of difficult information. Their class will continue to get more complex, so it is very important to keep up reading. They have already shown great progress learning about elasticity and solving the ROI equation! I look forward to helping more at future meetings."
"Students took mock test in advance that parent graded. Reviewed results and established weak points to work on. Discussed anatomy of an essay and assigned vocab homework - students encouraged to read more on their own time."
"Devoted today to the English section and related topics: punctuation, parallelism, subject-verb agreement, modifiers, fragments/run-ons, and the structure of a concise but complete sentence. Informal prep showed progress, but there is still room for some improvement before the mock post-test and the placement test. We also began discussing strategies for the reading section before the session ended; agreed to schedule our next meeting for two weeks later, after the client's spring break."
"Today the student and I began to review the basic anatomical terminology she must know for her test--the physiology of the cell, the four types of tissue (epithelial, connective, nervous, and muscle)--as well as an exploration into subtypes of epithelial and muscle tissues. We spent a majority of time looking over pictures of epithelial tissue sub-types she will need to be able to quickly recognize for her exam."
"The student learned about averages (mean, median, mode and range) and reviewed the math concepts we reviewed this summer, including adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing fractions, adding and subtracting decimals, and basic algebra."
